Five Oaks Associates is committed to providing churches with quality workmanship and building structures that support and build congregations. We are attuned to what each congregation wants. We understand the decision making processes churches go through and accommodate each church’s unique process. Our company has completed sanctuary renovations, steeple restorations and educational spaces for churches such as First Baptist Church Centralia, First Baptist Church Mexico, First Baptist Church Moberly, Coates Street Presbyterian in Moberly, Grace Bible Church in Columbia and LDS churches in Fulton and Moberly.

In addition, we welcome the use of church volunteers or preferred vendors to help these organizations keep their costs within budget. We have extensive experience in and passion for construction work with churches.

Coates Street Presbyterian Church

Steeple Reconstruction

When the Coates Street Presbyterian Church’s steeple was struck by lightning it devastated the historical steeple. After assessing our options, we decided the best way to rebuild the steeple roof structure was to build it on the ground. We salvaged and repaired the masonry exterior of the bell tower, rebuilt the wood-framed interior, and constructed a new steeple roof structure to mimic the original steeple.

The design and construction were thought through and planned so we could use a large crane to carefully place it onto the top of the bell tower. Once the crane lifted the new steeple into place, we secured it to the roof. The original church bell was salvaged and put back into place as well, taking care to ensure that the rope pull and all of the components were in working order.

What also made this project unique was our work with the insurance company because there wasn’t a clear policy to cover lightning strikes. By staying in touch with the insurance company, we were able to help the church in recovering some of the costs of the new steeple.

Throughout the project we worked closely with the church to stay true to the original look, while meeting today’s safety standards.
